Completed in mid 2007
Sited in a 1940’s heritage area and on the foreshore of Botany Bay the Clients brief was to design two attached duplex structures in an architectural language that complemented the unique 1940-1950 surrounding houses. The council guidelines allowed for a two storey structure to the street frontage and one storey only the rear of the site. The challenge was to design the duplexes with similar accommodation being living / dining / kitchen and family rooms with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The front duplexes have the bedroom accommodation on the ground floor with living areas above and rear terraces over the rear attached garages. The rear duplexes have the bedrooms and living areas on the ground floor with the master suite in a dormer over. Each rear duplex has landscaped courtyards with plunge pools. The entire development captures and recycles all of its rain and grey water. The development exceeds the council guidelines for landscaping and sustainability.
